Captain Hashrate (Sunil Kumar) is an ex-Merchant Navy Officer turned Bitcoin mining consultant, with over a decade of global maritime experience and deep operational exposure under oil majors like Shell, Chevron, and ExxonMobil. Having worked across 86 countries and with more than 17 nationalities, he brings a blend of discipline, cross-cultural agility, and a safety-first mindset to Bitcoin infrastructure. He has driven over $10 million in hardware sales, filled more than 40 MW of hosting capacity, and is credited as the first Indian to lead a Bitcoin mining pool. His expertise spans full-stack mining strategy, from procurement and hosting to treasury structuring and Bitcoin-backed financial products. He is now co-founder and Head of Hashrate at OurPool, and co-authored "Bitcoin Mining Decoded: From Curiosity to Consultancy" with Dusan Matuska while running AmityAge mining operations in Ethiopia and Paraguay.
